UC Davis Cow Sling

The UC Davis Cow Sling is a device used for lifting down cows by the skeletal system using lightweight equipment that can be applied easily to a down cow.

Background: The UC Davis Cow Sling was deleoped and tested at UC Davis in 2008. It was developed because the large animal lift did not support the cow properly. The sling is used with a forklift and boom attachment to lift the cow and safely move them to a float tank which allows the cow to stand so that an evaluation of the cow can take place.

The LAL is distributed by Large Animal Lift Enterprises, 1045 E June Drive, Moses Lake, WA 98837-8853 , telephone 509-350-5844. Richard Morgan is available for group or clinic training in use of the Cow Sling. Proper instruction and training are required for safe use of the Cow Sling in cows. Use of the LAL without undergoing specific training could result in serious injury or death to the cow and/or individuals attempting to work with the down cow.
